Age-related changes are important in any assessment and care because they may:
- adversely affect health and functionality, requiring therapeutic strategies;
- be differentiated from pathological processes to allow the development of appropriate interventions;
- predispose to disease, thus emphasizing the need for risk evaluation of the older adult; and,
